Nick Knowles vows to donate royalties from chart-topping single to charity after making people 'suffer'

Nick Knowles has promised to donate all royalties from his Make You Feel My Love cover to charity after admitting he ‘laughed his moobs off’ on finding out it had topped the charts.

Knowles, 56, found himself in the number one spot on iTunes after presenter Chris Moyles launched a campaign on his Radio X Breakfast Show.

Knowles was made aware of his chart-topping feat after receiving a letter from his son TJ on I’m A Celebrity, before promptly picking up a guitar and treating his fellow campmates to a live performance.

The DIY SOS presenter joined Moyles via video call on Friday morning, hours after he was given the boot from the jungle camp.

“I thought [my sons] were winding me up about my album,” he told Moyles. “And then when I came out and actually it turned out to be true, I could not believe it… I was literally wetting myself. It’s the funniest and most spectacular thing.

“To have done that was just really wonderful, and I’ll tell you now, if there are any royalties that come out of it, they’re all going to go to charities, the military charities I support.”

He joked: “I put the album out, it was clear fairly soon that people had suffered enough, so for you to run it past them again, I’d better give the money to charity!”

Moyles told him to drop by the studio on his return to London later this month. Knowles replied: “Guys, thank you very much, I really appreciate it. A fantastic laugh, it made me literally laugh my moobs off when I came out.”

Knowles’ cover of the Adele hit also made its way into the Vodafone Big Top 40 at number 32 – but despite its success fans quickly tired of the song.

They begged him to “stop” after he broke into his rendition at the Jungle Arms pub.

Knowles was kicked out of I’m A Celeb on Thursday night after finding himself in the bottom two with Fleur East. On leaving he told hosts Declan Donnelly and Holly Willoughby that he was hopeful his “extraordinary” experience would inspire viewers at home.

He said: “When I came in here I wanted to see if a whole bunch of people could come together and make friends.

“We’re having such a hard time in the UK [with being divided] I wanted to see if we could all get on then it might be a pointer for everyone at home.”

I’m A Celebrity is on ITV, tonight at 9pm
