Strictly Come Dancing latest: Giovanni Pernice jokingly throws cushion at Zoe Ball as he walks off It Takes Two set

Strictly Come Dancing star Giovanni Pernice threw a cushion at Zoe Ball as he jokingly walked off set on It Takes Two.

The Italian professional, who was appearing on the show with partner Faye Tozer, took offence at Ball’s jibe about the Toe Heel Swivel dance challenge on the show.

The professional cast of the show take part in a challenge each year to try earn a Guinness World Record, with Pernice managing 36 – falling short of the top spot.

As the couple wrapped up their interview on Thursday, Ball joked: “Actually, you might want to hang about and see this next bit. Pick up some tips.”

Pernice mocked: “Really? Haha you’re funny,” as he picked up a glittery cushion and threw it at the presenter.

Ball then quipped that “some people couldn’t take a joke” before shouting “love you” to Pernice. Later in the show, Pernice slipped from 2nd to 4th in the leader board as Katya Jones and Graziano Di Prima scored 39.

Injury: Faye Tozer revealed she had 'sliced her feet up' during semi-final training (BBC )

In the interview, Tozer had revealed she has “sliced up her feet” while rehearsing for this weekend’s semi-final.

The Steps star topped the leaderboard with a perfect score last weekend for her Charleston to the Lonely Goatherd to make it through to the next week.

Tozer is tackling the Argentine Tango and the Samba on Saturday to fight for her place in next week’s final.

But the star revealed that the “double rehearsal time” is taking its toll on her body, as she discussed the extent of her injuries on It Takes Two.

The singer said: “This week…two dances and double the rehearsal time you need, trying to get up to standard.

“Your body’s in completely different positons. I’ve sliced up my foot – I’m not going to show you my horrible feet - bashed my ankles. They are a little bit [swollen]. It’s not pretty but the dance will be hopefully!”

Host Ball told viewers at home that Tozer’s feet were “covered in cuts” and that she could see Tozer was in “a lot of pain” when she tried to get up the stairs in the studio.

It Takes Two airs weekdays at 6.30pm on BBC Two. Strictly Come Dancing continues Saturday at 6.35pm on BBC One.
